National Tutoring Programme

After a rigorous application process, we were approved as a Tuition Partner for the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) in 2021. The NTP launched in November 2020 and is part of a £1.7 billion catch-up fund which will try to address the loss of learning during the pandemic. Under the scheme, schools can access subsidised tuition for any pupil who has fallen behind academically as a result of school closures during lockdowns.

Changes to the NTP

On 31 March 2022, the Department for Education (DfE) announced plans to simplify the NTP for academic year 2022 to 2023 to ensure high quality tuition reaches pupils who need it the most and to streamline the process for schools. This means:

  • All schools will receive their tuition funding directly.
  • All tuition options will have the same 60% subsidy rate.

To assist forward planning and to avoid disruption to pupils:

  • Schools currently using approved NTP tuition partners will be able to continue working with them in 2022 to 2023.
  • Schools with AMs on their staff can continue to employ them in 2022 to 2023.
  • Schools can continue to recruit AMs – both through the delivery partner and via headteacher nominations.

For the academic year 2022 to 2023, the grant provided will cover 60% of the average cost of tutoring, based on a 15-hour package. These are:

  • £18 for mainstream schools, of which the DfE subsidy will be £10.80 (60%)
  • £47 for specialist settings, of which the DfE subsidy will be £28.20 (60%)

Check out our blog for full details on the changes introduced by the DfE.

By registering with us, the high-quality tutorial sessions will be started immediately and there will be no recruitment fees and any additional training or checks are not needed for the tutors. The cost of our School Tutorial Packages has always been delivered at a competitive rate to our partner schools, as we are a charitable organisation. For the 2022/23 Academic Year, subsidised tuition starts from as little as £6.00 per pupil.

We don’t invoice VAT our schools.

Your school can use Recovery Premium funding or the Pupil Premium budget to cover the remaining amount. Furthermore, Toranj Tuition has secured charitable funding to offset part of the residual costs for schools in deprived postcodes. This funding is limited and will be allocated to schools on a first-come, first-served basis.
